"Out of the stump of David's family will grow a new shoot - yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord." Isaiah 11:1-2
Jesus is the descendent of David - that "new shoot". He is the Messiah born to fulfill God's promise.
Sprout a carrot top as a visual reminder of today's verse from the prophet Isaiah. There are two ways that you can try this.
1. Cut the top 1-inch off of a carrot. Place some pebbles in a small dish. Place the carrot top on the pebbles; fill the dish with water to just touch the bottom of the carrot. Add water as needed. Watch for new shoots to appear.
2. Cut a 3-inch length from the top of a carrot. (A large diameter carrot works best.) Carefully hollow out the center of the carrot. Attach a hanging loop to the carrot. (A needle and heavy thread will work to do this.) Hang in a window. Fill the carrot with water, adding water as needed. Watch for the new shoots to grow from the old root.
